Huddlestock Investor Services is looking for a Head of Legal & Compliance who possesses a strong grasp of securities trading legislation, finance, and securities markets. The importance of legal focus, compliance, and risk management has been steadily growing, leading us to strengthen our team in this area.

We seek someone who:

  • Likely works in law, compliance, risk management, or within an investment firm, mutual fund, law firm, or alternative investment fund. Experience in other regulated activities is also valuable.
  • Is proactive, solution-oriented, and keen on contributing to our company’s development.

As the Head of Legal & Compliance at Huddlestock Investor Services, you will join a team of 8 people, engaging in diverse and extensive tasks. Your responsibilities will include ensuring our operations align with applicable laws, regulations, internal guidelines, and other provisions. You’ll play a pivotal role in creating awareness, training, implementing necessary controls, and overseeing their execution. Additionally, there may be involvement in establishing and maintaining routines and control systems for effective management of the group’s capital, assessing their adequacy, providing input for risk mandates and frameworks, designing compliance and risk follow-up models and systems, identifying data sources, and ensuring data quality for controls.

Your role will also include monitoring and controlling risk mandates and frameworks, preparing reports for the management and the group’s board. The workplace will be in Oslo or Stavanger, Norway.

Work Assignments

Your operational responsibilities will include:

  • Providing legal support for contractual, commercial, and administrative matters
  • Assisting group companies with general administrative and legal issues periodically
  • Designing, reviewing, and negotiating commercial and employment contracts
  • Participating in tender preparations and negotiating complex tenders with legal intricacies
  • Managing the resolution of contractual disputes and engaging external legal resources as required
  • Monitoring relevant regulatory developments in Norway and internationally
  • Establishing and maintaining routines and control systems for effective business management
  • Regularly assessing the adequacy of routines and control measures
  • Reporting to management and the board
  • Conducting employee training on current regulations, guidelines, and routines
  • Engaging in ongoing discussions with external legal advisors

Additionally, you’ll collaborate closely with management, providing assistance in:

  • Internal control and operational risk assessments, including annual risk assessment and reporting
  • Follow-up of supplier agreements
  • Providing input on risk mandates and frameworks
  • Designing and creating models and systems for risk monitoring
  • Identifying data sources and ensuring data quality for compliance and risk control
  • Monitoring and controlling risk mandates and frameworks, preparing reports for the company’s management and board

Qualifications:

  • Higher economic or legal education
  • Minimum of 3 years of work experience in a regulated business, law firm, or relevant fields, preferably with experience in legal or compliance work, risk management, or middle office tasks
  • Good knowledge of current securities market laws and regulations, with a solid understanding of regulations
  • Proficiency in asset management, investment services, and finance
  • Strong IT knowledge is advantageous

The ideal candidate will be accurate, analytical, proactive, and quality-conscious, adept at handling both complex and routine tasks independently and in a structured manner. Collaboration and a solution-oriented mindset are essential, along with a positive work ethic and the ability to deliver work promptly, maintaining high quality within specified deadlines and frameworks. Proficiency in Norwegian and English (both written and spoken) is mandatory. You may be required to travel occasionally as part of the role.
